First of all, I would like to welcome you to my Is Udemy a Scam review. People nowadays are into finding jobs online and one important thing that they should have is skills, in order for them to get the job and for sure their future employers will ask them about their skills and experiences. And the answer to that is joining an online training that can help you develop and learn skills that you can use in the future.
I know that you have heard about this opportunity that Udemy gives to aspiring freelancers. However, is Udemy legit? Can you really learn from Udemy? Is it possible to earn money from Udemy? These are some of the questions that I will answer for you. At the end of this review, you will know if this is something worth it or not, so I don’t want you to keep waiting so let’s get into details.
What is Udemy?
Udemy is a website wherein you can find more than 100000 online courses for different categories such as;
- Finance and Accounting
- Office Productivity
- Information Technology
- Teaching and Academics
The courses that you can take in Udemy are from instructors all over the world who wanted to help and earn at the same time through providing modules that they submit in Udemy. Since they provide online training, they are also providing certificates, however, Udemy is not an accredited institution and not connected to any company, which means that the certificate that you will get may not be valid to some companies who are looking for any proof of having a training.
But the most important thing is you were able to have new learnings that can somehow help you to find the dream job that you have especially if that is work from home jobs. But please reminded that most of the courses from Udemy need to have payment, and there are also some that are for free but it is just going to be just basic modules and might still require you to have another course that is already paid.
Anyone can teach and share modules on Udemy wherein you will earn money online that we will discuss later on the other segment.
How Does Udemy Work?
Most of you are curious about how Udemy works, like what I have mentioned earlier you can upload your own modules with Udemy, and be one of the instructors that they have, they use to call their members who upload courses as instructors. However, it is not just uploading videos or courses and you will instantly earn money, you need to sell it as well or make the trainees interested in your module so they will buy it.
So the first thing that you need to do is create an account from Udemy, and it is just easy as entering your email address and making your personal password, creating your account is for free but accessing courses may require paying for it. And as an Instructor, it is your obligation to promote your course to your target audience and that is where your journey begins. Of course, you need to have a great skill that you can offer to your audience.
You will be the one to plan your own course, record your training videos and build your own community to increase the chance of getting more sales. If you are new to this kind of industry there is a chance that you will need to adjust especially teaching will require you to have patience and hard work.
If you are someone looking for an instant way to earn money, Udemy may not be for you and no need for you to be worried about since there are a lot of ways now to earn money online.
Can You Make Money With Udemy?
Let’s talk about how possible it is for you to earn money with Udemy. Is it really possible? I can say that yes, it is possible as long as you have the legit skills that you can share and sell. Because once you have an effective way of teaching online it will be easy for you to find buyers or trainees, or maybe they will be the ones to look for you and buy your courses.
I am sure you will ask if how much you can earn in doing online teaching in Udemy, some say that you can earn as much as $1000 per month as long as you have high-quality courses and you are an on-demand instructor, there is a big chance that you are going to reach that $1000 every month. However, you really need to have great skills in order for you to succeed with Udemy.
And just to give you a tip, here are some of the in-demand categories in Udemy as of now;
- Facebook Ads
- Digital Marketing
- Social Media Marketing
What I Don’t Like About Udemy.
But like the other website and online training out there, there some flaws that I believe you need to know about Udemy. And here are the things that I don’t like about Udemy.
Not for everyone.
For me, Udemy is something that is good for someone that has a background when it comes to teaching and someone who has a license to teach. It is not that easy to teach people especially if you don’t know how and where to start right? Unless if you have the background you already know what to do and it will be easy for you to increase your community in Udemy and earn a lot of money.
A lot of requirements.
Like what I have mentioned earlier, it will be hard for you if you don’t have any background from teaching and aside from that you need to have a good source of good quality courses, you may need to invest in a good camera and microphone for your training videos. And not just that, some high-end equipment as well as a laptop or computer to upload videos and to edit as well. This is something that you need to consider especially if you are just starting and don’t have any budget to invest these kinds of equipment.
What I Like About Udemy.
If you are going to ask me about the things I like with Udemy, I can only answer that with one thing, and that is they are offering free courses that you don’t need to spend $5 or more. This can serve as their free trial of some courses and it will help the instructor to gain more students and increase their earnings.
And the other one is they have 30-day money-back guarantee, so for example if you bought a course and you did not like it, within 30 days after you paid for it you can request to refund the payment that you have and processing days will depend on the bank as per researching.
Is Udemy a Scam? My Final Verdict.
After all the review and research that I did with Udemy, I can say that they are not a scam. Actually I can still recommend this online training website to those who have a background in teaching. This is one of the best platforms to market your skills and a big chance of getting the goals that you want which is to be a well-known online instructor.
Just have the patience and hard work and for sure it will be all paid off in the end. But if you are decided to still look for other options to earn money online, you can check on my Wealthy Affiliate Review and learn more ways to earn money that will not require you to do online teaching. It can be easy as doing writing about your hobby and get paid for it.
