What is Snagajob.com?

snagajob.com homepage

Snagajob.com is an online job listings platform acting as a mediator between companies searching for employees and people searching for jobs. With Snagajob.com, companies or even private employers can advertise a job posting to search for perfect candidates for the job.

On the other hand, if you are a job seeker, you can create an account with Snagajob.com and search for a job you prefer.

Snagajob.com has been delivering job listings to job seekers ever since 2000. This is made possible by Shawn Boyer and today Snagajob.com is currently based in Virginia and South Carolina.

This company now claims to have 300,000 employers with over 75 million registered job seekers. Thus, making Snagajob.com a contender in this niche.

Due to the fantastic services Snagajob.com has offered since its inception, it is one of the leading outsources for major companies such as Uber and for most of the Fortune 500 businesses out there.

Snagajob.com claims to be different and unique from most online job listings platform. This is because they try to match your job seekers profile with the perfect employer, making it less of a hassle for you.

Currently, Snagajob.com changed its name to Snag. There’s no big deal here, probably just wanted a change of image. You can now find them at snag.co, but you’ll notice they are still at the same and old domain that we’re all so familiar with.

Is Snagajob.com a scam? First of all, let us know how this works.

How Does Snagajob.com Work?

snagajob.com jobs

Your journey with Snagajob.com starts with creating an account. There are two directions with this.

If you are searching for employees, you can sign up an account as an employer. This comes with a cost, though. You can advertise 1 job post for $89. If you want to advertise 3 job posts, it will cost you $249. If you want to go the extra mile, you may have to pay $375 for 5 job posts.

What’s painful here is that it is not a one time fee. You would have to pay for these job posts per month.

If you are on the other side of the page and currently looking for a job, you can create an account with Snagajob.com and search for a job you prefer. The best thing about this is you can join for free if you are jobseeker.

Take note, you can create an account as long as you are residing within the United States, and as long as you are between 14 – 55 years old.

You won’t run out of options since Snagajob.com covers a variety of jobs in the fields of:

  • Education
  • Rental
  • Restaurant
  • Hotel and Hospitality
  • Health Care
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Sales
  • Marketing
  • Others

You can find part time and full time jobs belonging in these categories. If you are not searching for a part time or a full time job, that’s still cool. You can find seasonal jobs, students jobs, summer jobs, and veteran jobs.

Snagajob.com also features a job listings section specifically for teenagers.

You can customize job searches according to location, field of expertise, a job position you desire, and a company you prefer.

One feature I find engaging with Snagajob.com is you can enter your location on the homepage of the website, and it will find an open job post for you within or near your area.

This is definitely a nice feature since the United States covers a wide geographical area and it could be a pain in the ass to apply for a job that’s a thousand miles away from your location.

Once you have applied for a job position, Snagajob.com takes the wheel and passes your application to the employer.

snagajob.com dream job

Another feature Snagajob.com boasts is their ability to match your profile to a job you desire. This is made possible when you customize your profile and they match this to an employer searching for the perfect candidate.

This is a score to both sides since employees could find a suitable job for him and employers can easily find the kind of employee they are looking for.

Jobseekers can be notified whenever there is a job post that matches their profile. However, all the noise around Snagajob.com says that you are receiving more than notifications of job posts in your email. I’ll tell you more about that later on.

Nevertheless, since Snagajob.com is a very huge platform for an online jobs listing website, you may just land a high-quality job.

How To Earn Money With Snagajob.com?

If you are not interested in job posts, you may want to consider Snagajob.com’s referral program. Basically what you do here is you refer others to use Snagajob.com, and when they start to use the website, you will earn a commission.

First, you are given your own unique affiliate link. This link is what you’re going to put on your website, blog or even social media accounts.

You can refer to employers and job seekers alike. When you refer an employer, you can receive 20% commission from what the employers pay to Snagajob.com.

This employer referral of yours must sign up to Snagjob.com within the 45-day referral period from which he initially clicked on your affiliate link. Of course, your referral must be able to successfully register and advertise a job post.

When you refer jobseekers, you will earn a commission of $1 for each person that signs up to search jobs on Snagajob.com. Your referral must sign up within 7 days from which he first clicked on your link.

Is Snagajob.com a scam? You may find the answer to that question once you have read the section below.

What I Don’t Like About Snagajob.com

Unprofessional Customer Service

Customers stated how messy it is to fix problems with the customer service team. This must be a common trend within the niche of online jobs listing platforms. Most of the time, the issues being dealt with are inadequately addressed, and sometimes not at all.

Outdated Job Posts

Snagajob.com is very extensive and a large platform for online job listings. It is no doubt that there would be job posts that are unavailable, nonexistent, and outdated.

snagajob.com sitejabber customer complaints

However, since they are one of the leading contenders in this niche, they should update their job posts and remove those which are already taken by others. This can clutter the job listings and go through all the job posts can be a waste of time.

Continuous Charges

Some employers complain that even if their job posting had already been taken down, Snagajob.com still charges them for another billing cycle. On top of that, considering how unresponsive their support team is, you can only imagine for yourselves how  much of a headache this would cause you.

snagajob.com bbb complaint

It is Not Accredited by BBB

If you would take a look at Better Business Bureau, you would see that within 19 years of business, they are not still BBB accredited up until now. Their BBB rating is even more underwhelming and disappointing with a D-.

snagajob.com bbb

If you are any familiar with Better Business Bureau, you know that it is important for a business to have a BBB rating of A. This is one of the best ways to verify a business’ legitimacy.

I am not saying that it is automatically a scam if a business receives a rating lower than A. It’s just that you may want to think twice whether you would totally engage with this business.

Some Job Ads are Fake

Snagajob.com’s main job is to be a mediator between the employers and the job seekers. They really have no control over those who advertise job posts.

Some employers may turn out to be scammers and use your information disclosed on your profile against you. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Snagajob.com is a complete scam overall. Like I said, this is not within anyone’s control.

However, I believe that with proper screening, there would be less scammers and more legit job advertisements on Snagajob.com.

Selling Information to Third Parties

This is Snagajob.com’s privacy policy.

“We disclose your Personal Information to third parties if you consent for us to do so. For example, we send your information to employers if you indicate that you want us to do so in the registration process. In addition, if you indicate that you want to receive offers and promotions from our Sponsors, we will send your Personal Information to them according to your interests and preferences. If you decide to share your contact information in this manner, you will be provided with instructions regarding how to opt out of sharing your contact information if you decide you no longer wish to do so.”

It is said in here that you will be asked to indicate whether you want your personal information to be sent to their sponsors and if you want to receive offers and promotions from them.

However, even if jobseekers and employers do not indicate this, their information is still sold.

snagajob.com complaint

Since Snagajob.com sells your information to third parties, you will be bombarded with endless phone calls and emails from their solicitors and sponsors. It seems like you are only caught into this job listings platform to be referred endlessly to their sponsors instead of actually finding you a good job or employee.

Good news, you can contact Snagajob.com and be provided information on how to opt out of this mania. If you don’t want to get caught up in this mess in the first place, you may want to provide an alternate email address and a temporary phone number you don’t use so often.

What I Like About Snagajob.com

Free for Jobseekers

Other online job listings platform out there require a payment from job seekers. What’s painful here is even if you pay a big amount of money, this still does not guarantee that you will land a job.

Some companies even disclose it is not their fault that you can’t land a job. Their only duty is to provide you job listings. Of course, this is all bullcrap for me.

At least with Snagajob.com, you won’t feel that your money is a waste.

Wide Range of Job Offerings

I like how you are not just limited to one or two categories of job listings. You can choose from a range of job posts from the food industry and to the healthcare industry. Who knows? You may just snatch an interview to your dream job!

Profile Matching

snagajob.com profile matching

The feature of matching your profile to a potential employer is a big point for me since this saves time for both employers and job seekers.

Another feature which I would consider another score is their ability to find job posts that are within or near your area. I mean, who wants to fly to another state for a job post?

Well, sometimes it is inevitable, but why go through the hassle of moving when there are job posts near you?

Conclusion: Is Snagajob.com a Scam?

I believe Snagajob.com is not a scam. It has been around for 19 years and it still remains as one of the leading outsources for job listings. With this, who knows, you might just land the job you have always wanted!

However, I won’t recommend this online jobs listing platform to you guys. Sure, it is free. But in my opinion, I think it is not best to engage with a company that sells your information to third parties. Snagajob.com is not a scam, but these third parties? Maybe.

Bombarding you with emails and phone calls is one thing. It is too much of a nuisance.

Unfortunately, who knows what other things can be done with your personal information? You can stop the phone calls and messages if you like, but your information is still out there. For me, Snagajob.com is not worth the risk.

Jobs you can find at online jobs listing sites will come and go. Some of these could only last for a few months, and some employers could take advantage of you and get rid of you without even paying you.

I have a better recommendation for you. With my recommendation, not only can you be your own boss, but you can also make this a sustainable source of income for a long time. You may want to check out my Wealthy Affiliate review.

Just keep one thing in mind, this won’t happen overnight! But if you are a type of fella that can follow a blueprint, if you are willing to take action, then you can turn your passion into a thriving online business!
