Is Clickworker legit? We’ve all had our share of experiences in the search for a sustainable job. I don’t know about you but I think we can all agree that it wasn’t rainbows and sunshine for everybody.
Thankfully, Clickworker exists. This platform claims to give you jobs in which all you have to do is complete tasks required by the client and get paid by the hour! That’s what they say, though. And that’s probably all you need to know.
Fortunately, I have something else about Clickworker you don’t know. I was disappointed, but was I shocked? No, I had it coming, and you most probably do, too.
To understand what I am trying to say, read on until the last part!

Clickworker is a crowdsourcing platform that offers micro jobs which are tasks divided to large numbers of people forming a bigger project of companies or individuals which we will address as clients.
You will be working as an independent contractor getting paid for completing these micro jobs in front of your computer. Clickworker offers a wide range of micro jobs and we’ll get to that later on.
This company is founded in 2005 by Alexander Linden. They are currently based in Essen, Nordrhein – Westfalen, Germany and in USA. The Clickworker workforce is also located in 136 countries.
They gain pride from their rigorous Clickworker qualification process and top-notch quality assurance measures.
Over the course of 13 years in the micro-task expertise, Clickworker has completed over 1 million projects with the help of more than 1.5 million Clickworkers.
The company also claims to be trusted by their partners Honda, Sharewise, Unbotify, and many more.
Is Clickworker legit? You might think so by the information I have just provided you here. But, we’re just getting started. Let’s move on to how Clickworker works on the inside.
How Does Clickworker Work?
First, ask yourself, do you think you have what it takes to be a Clickworker? Being a Clickworker means having the ability to complete tasks in a fast, efficient, and accurate manner. Plus, if you have loads of patience to finish these tasks, then you might want to consider being a Clickworker.
If you think you can manage, then your journey starts by signing up on their website. Registering is relatively easy and straightforward. You would just have to provide a valid email address, password, and of course, your name.
Take note, Clickworker is available worldwide, so you can expect that this platform also caters to those outside United States.
With Clickworker, you can sign up for free! Yes, no sign up fees, no annoying recurring fees, and no upsells!
Once you have signed up, you will be sent a confirmation email with an activation link to your email, and you’ll be logged in to the jobs board. There, you will be presented with micro jobs or tasks.
Before you go on and delve into the micro jobs, you may want to complete your profile first. It won’t be too much of a hassle since there are just general questions about you, which languages you speak and how proficient you are with it, what skills you possess that will further your reputation in the eyes of clients, and your hobbies!
Clickworker also lets you provide samples of your previous work.
What is the purpose of this, you ask? Of course, clients won’t just automatically hire you for a task if they don’t know what you are capable of. So completing your profile gives them an idea if you are perfect to complete the micro job.
This is just the first step to be qualified, though. Apparently, most of the micro jobs require you to pass an assessment or a pre-qualifier test before you can qualify to complete the task.
If you are qualified, you will get paid once you finish the micro job. Sweet!
Now, what are these micro jobs I am talking about? Let’s see all of them below.
Product Data Digitalization
You know how you scroll through the specifications of a product when you buy something online? In product data digitalization, you would have to digitalize these product specifications into files such as Excel, PDF, catalogs, and even illustrations.
Categorization
As what you would expect, all you have to do here is classify various and a wide range of products then narrow them down into categories.
For example, you are assigned whether an item is an accessory, clothing, or shoes. If it’s a clothing item, you would have to classify whether it is a suit, shirt, jeans, trousers, or a blouse. Once you have identified it is a blouse, you have to assign it once more to tens of blouse categories.
This micro job is fairly simple as long as you are familiar with the terminologies in the niche of products you are going to work in.
Text Creation
In text creation, you will be instructed to write documents such as company profiles, traveling destinations, glossaries, search optimized texts, blog posts and more. Usually, you would have to write texts with a specific word count of 250 to 300 words.
This is one of the highest paying micro jobs with Clickworker as a 250-word article could pay you $3.00.
Image and Video Tagging
The process of tagging just means to assign a relevant word to a certain image or video. Take this picture for instance.
The picture obviously shows a yellow broken bicycle. So, you would have to assign it a tag of ‘yellow broken bicycle’. It’s really just as easy as that. But of course, you can’t expect anything more than cents for every image or video you have tagged.
Online Surveys
Clickworker also lets you earn money by completing surveys. However, take note, you would have to answer pre-qualifying questions before you are eligible to finish a survey. Only then can you earn money.
I do have to warn you, though. Surveys only pay you cents each time you complete one. If you happen to come across surveys that pay you over a dollar, that’s already considered big luck.
What’s more frustrating is that it’s hard to qualify for a survey. You could spend at least half an hour trying to qualify for a survey and be told halfway that you are not eligible to finish so. What a waste of time.
Mobile Crowdsourcing
You could think of yourself as a photographer in which you would take photos of buildings, restaurants, menus, tourist attractions and others that would of use to yellow pages, travel or cuisine websites, and even online shops.
Translation
Pretty self-explanatory – if you could translate texts from one language to another in a proficient manner, then you could apply for these micro jobs.
Web Research
Just like what the name implies, you are instructed to do market research on products and services.
Copywriting
For copywriting, you would need to have an eagle’s eyes for this one since you would have to proofread texts for spelling, grammar, and syntax then revise them if necessary. You can expect at least $0.50 per 250-word text.
Datasets for Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence (AI) Training
Most of the time, software developers are in need of resources for developing Artificial Intelligence (AI). Consequentially, they are searching for resources such as voice recordings or photos with facial expressions. You can earn money by simply sending them these kinds of information.
How Much Can You Earn With Clickworker?
These micro jobs pay you depending on the difficulty of the task, the amount of time you are given to finish it, and whether it would need elaborate knowledge and skills. You could expect to earn over an average of $9 per hour. That’s what Clickworker claims, though.
From what I have found out, most of the tasks only pay you cents and a few dollars if lucky. It is possible to earn the average as long as there are lots of micro job postings for you to do.
Lots of reports say that there aren’t much job postings as you might have thought. Also, the amount of these vary depending on your country of residency.
With such a low-paying rate, if you calculate all the tasks you can do in an hour, it would be an estimate of at least $2 per hour. It is safe to say that micro jobs do not pay much.
Clickworker pays you through PayPal or bank account. You get paid every Wednesday of the week, they claim. Of course, before you can receive your money, you would have to reach the cashout threshold first.
If you opt to receive money via PayPal, there is a minimum of $5, while $10 for bank accounts. Payments can take up to 7 days to reach your account once the task is done.
Is Clickworker legit? I have found a clue to that question in the section below.
Why Clickworker is A Waste of Time
Low Earnings
$2 per hour? That would not even equate to the minimum wage. You could reach the average $9 per hour, but only if you can scour Clickworker for micro jobs in every page. Otherwise, you will just be earning the bare minimum, not being able to provide for yourself or your family.
Not Enough Jobs
How are you going to reach the average $9 per hour if there are not enough jobs for you? You’re going to be less lucky if it so happens that your area does not have lots of job postings. This simply just implies that it is almost impossible to earn decent money with Clickworker.
Inevitable Uncertainties
You can’t be certain that you can get qualified for every job posting of your liking. As what I have mentioned before, there are qualifications before you can work on a task.
Even if you do happen to finish a task, most clients would take days to respond just to say that you should revise something or they won’t even accept your work without disclosing the reason.
It would take forever for you to receive such a small amount of money or worse, all of your effort will just go to waste.
What I Like About Clickworker
Free to Join
There are no sign up fees, upsells, and recurring fees. Clickworker is completely free to use!
Payment Options
Most of transactions today are held through PayPal. It’s nice that Clickworker is catching up with the trend. It’s fast and convenient. If you don’t happen to have PayPal, you could just opt to receive money with your bank account.
Large Geographical Area Coverage
You could sign up to Clickworker wherever you are. As what I have seen, it seems that they offer the platform to use for almost every country there is.
Low Cash Out Threshold
You could cash out your money as long as you reach the minimum $5 for Paypal, or $10 for bank account. This makes a lot of sense since you could only earn cents for tasks.
Is Clickworker Legit? My Final Thoughts!
I believe that Clickworker is a legit company providing micro jobs. However, I would highly not recommend this to you.
It is too uncertain to use. You are not sure if you could be qualified for a task, or even if you do, you can’t be to certain if your work will be accepted or not.
The tasks just don’t pay you enough, and even if you try with all your might to search for micro jobs on every page, there isn’t much for you to find. You won’t be able to provide for yourself or your family.
