A blog can be either a dedicated website or part of it, the main differences between a blog and a website are:
- A blog keeps a chronological listing of all blog posts
- They have a commenting system that encourages readers to participate in the discussion and leave back comments.
- Blog posts are archived by date, category, author, tags, and sub-categories.
- Blogs also allow RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds for posts and/or comments for feed-readers like Awasu Personal Edition, Omea Reader, Feedly, etc.
The main differences between a website and a blog are:
- A website has a homepage where you can navigate through internal links to the rest of the site
- A website has static pages where the visitors can’t interact, for example, a FAQ page, product pages, landing pages, contact pages, privacy policy, and disclaimers.
- A blog can be a part of a website.

We live an era where literally anyone can make money online, and blogging is undoubtedly one of the best ways to do it.
There are several ways to make money with blogging, all you have to do is choose the one that suits you the best.

If you an introvert type of fella and you don’t want to expose yourself, you can work as a freelance blog writer, writing content for other people.
There are marketplaces such as Fiver, Iwriter, or Upwork where you can start writing and selling your content right away.
How do You Make Money From a Travel Blog?
Do you like to travel? Are you an extrovert type of person that don’t mind to share your photos and videos with others? Then a travel blog can be a good option for you.
Have you ever imagine traveling the world writing down, photographing and filming your experiences as you visit different cities, countries even continents?
By visiting and writing about local attractions, restaurants, hotels, and random events you encounter you will have infinite content to share with your audience.

If you are into cooking, then this is the right type of blog for you, and the possibilities are infinite.
Nowadays people worry more about keeping a healthier lifestyle, and stop eating junk food is part of that.
The problem with quotidian people is that they don’t have a clue about how to cook… so they end up asking google 😉
But a food blog doesn’t have to be about recipes you can create a lot of content under this topic. For example, a restaurant review, you can write about the benefits of consuming organic food, first steps into veganism, is nano-food the future? The sky (your imagination) is the limit.

One of the common questions I get from people is, how fast can you make money from a blog? Usually, I reply with another question.
How many hours per day will you dedicate to it? How many days a week? How many weeks a month? Do you have any knowledge of SEO? Will you be following some training or will you be doing things your way?
It all matters, but if you ask me, people make money after the first week, but the average John Doe takes about 3 to 6 months to build an income stream.
Like everything else in life blogging, to be profitable requires work, dedication, perseverance and most of all needs you to take action.

Taking the examples above a way to monetize your travel blog using affiliate marketing would be:
Create a post about your visit to Paris, start writing about how great your long-distance flight was, no turbulence at all, and the flight attendants were super attentive, even the food was good.
You can now along with the text naturally place an affiliate link so people can buy tickets form that company and you earn a commission.
This is just an example, in Paris and other big cities, you can promote and earn commissions from your blog with almost everything.
If someone makes a reservation or booking through your blog for a bus, train, hotels, restaurants, boat cruises, museums, monuments or any other attraction you earn a commission.
How cool is that?!
Another great way to monetize your blog, but this only works after you have a considerable amount of traffic, is AdWords or any similar program. Basically what this does is show relevant ads to your visitors.
You can earn a small amount of money just by impressions (which is the number of times those ads are seen by visitors) or you can earn a bit more if your visitor clicks the ad, and even more if the clicked ad result in a conversion.
PRO TIP: Do not spam your blog with ads because it ruins user experience and will probably raise your bounce rate.
